I think that the short little shirt and the tubey thing are good ideas-I hate when I'm wearing a dress with a shade shirt under-it's hot and you can see the bottom hem. I'd like to try one!
I've used a similar item from a company called Bella Band. They have lots of different colors and some with lace edges, etc. It was pretty useful during different stages of pregnancy--it can be used even in the 1st trimester when you are just a bit too big for your regular clothes but too small for maternity clothes. You just slip it on over your jeans and leave them unbottened--the bella band holds them in place for you!
